What are the hours for WinterFest?

The hours vary day-to-day.  Check out the SCHEDULE tab on the website for the latest information on hours, skate session times, and nightly activities and special promotions.

What else is there to do at WinterFest?

WinterFest is more than just ice skating on the Hospitals of Providence ice skating rink!  We also have a human size snow globe thanks to Providence Children’s Hospital!  Go shopping in El Paso Live’s Winter Village, grab a bite to eat at The Big Media Kringle Kafe, take your photo in front of the El Paso Electric WinterFest tree, stay warm in the Texas Gas Service Warming Tent, check out a Holiday Movie at the Plaza Theatre thanks to El Paso Community Foundation Plaza Classic Film Festival thanks to Once Source Federal Credit Union.  And there are plenty of activities to do on The Ruhmann Law Firm’s Festivity Nights.

How do the skate sessions work?

Skate sessions start on the hour.  When you buy your skate pass, you buy into a particular session.  You can pre buy your session online to be sure you have a space on the rink, as there is only limited space available on rink, itself.  Plan to come early to check – in, get your skates on, and be ready to celebrate WinterFest.  Note, there are no exchanges or refunds if you miss your skate session.

Can I buy more than one skate session?

Are you an avid skater and want to skate more than one session.  Check in with the box office when you get to WinterFest and purchase an additional session for just $5.00 to continue your skating for more than one session.

Is there a minimum age to skate?

There is no minimum age to skate but all skaters under 12 must be supervised at all times by an adult, either on or off the rink.  Also, please note that you cannot carry a child while on the ice skating rink.

Can we bring our own food and drinks to Winterfest?

No outside food or beverage is allowed at WinterFest.  The Big Media Kringle Kafe is open throughout the festival and has delicious food to order and enjoy at WinterFest.  That said, if you stopped at a downtown restaurant or eatery and are walking through to observe WinterFest, it is ok to have your food with you.  We just ask that you don’t bring a picnic or plan to use our tables and chairs to consume food that is not from the Big Media Kringle Kafe.

What if I am late for my skate session?

Plan to be at WinterFest before your session starts as there are no refunds or exchanges if you miss your session.  The great thing is that there is lots to do at WinterFest and in downtown El Paso, so come early to enjoy everything so that you are on time for your scheduled skate session.

Can I purchase a discounted skate session online?

All discounts are taken at the box office so cannot be purchased ahead of time.  For instance, if you want to save $2.00 by bringing a can good for The Hospitals of Providence Tasty Tuesday to benefit El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank, you will need to bring your food item to the box office and receive your discount when you purchase your skate session.

Where do we park?

There are several parking garages and metered parking throughout downtown El Paso.  We recommend parking in the El Paso Convention Center garage, located at 1 Civic Center Plaza.  Parking is a one-time entry fee of $7.00 for the day.  Let the parking attendants know you are parking for WinterFest to receive a coupon to The Big Media Kringle Kafe!  No in-and-out privileges.

What do we do once we arrive?

Whether you pre purchased your skate session or you still need to purchase your skate session, stop at the box office booth outside at Arts Festival Plaza to scan or purchase your ticket to receive your armband.  After you have your armband, you can go to the skate station to pick out your skates, and get a locker (if available) to store your personal items.  Then, there is an area to try on your skates before you enter the rink at your designated skate session time.

How do skate rentals work?

The rental of the skates is included with the cost of the skate sessions.  You must wear ice skates while on the rink as no street shoes are allowed on the ice.

What if I have my own ice skates?

You live in El Paso and own your own skates?  That’s awesome!  Feel free to use your own skates at WinterFest.  There is no discount for your ticket, however.

Can you sharpen my ice skates at WinterFest?

Unfortunately, we do not have ice skate sharpening equipment on premise.

Are there storage lockers?

There are a limited number of storage lockers that are available at no charge.  Locks and keys can be picked up at the Skate Station when you get your ice skates.  We recommend not bringing valuables or giving them to your friends and family while you skate.  We are not responsible for lost or stolen articles.

Are there skating lessons?

We hope to get some professionals on the ice during Winterfest.  Check back regularly on the schedule and we’ll let you know when we have something confirmed.

Can I book a private party?
